I didn’t used to be a protein shake drinker. Just the mention of “protein shake” made me feel like I should be running for the nearest gym. Don’t they go hand in hand? I may have been stereotyping a little!
Now, I’m realizing that protein shakes are for more than just body builders. A protein shake is the perfect way to curb the afternoon munchies! Or, in the case of this Chocolate Banana Protein Shake, a late night chocolate craving. Please tell me I’m not the only one that gets those!
This shake does NOT taste healthy! It’s absolutely delicious. The taste varies a bit depending on which protein powder you use, but I have found two that I LOVE. For a dairy-free option, I like Orgain Organic Protein Powder. Creamy Chocolate Fudge Flavor, of course. Lately though, I’ve been using MRM All-Natural Whey. I like the flavor just a bit more.
Once you have your protein powder, the only other ingredients you’ll need are almond butter, milk (I use almond milk), banana, and ice. Simple! Just blend everything up in a blender and you have a filling breakfast or snack ready to go!
It bears mentioning that I do love my Vitamix. It is a miracle machine for creating a super creamy shake! They are pricey. However, we use ours almost daily so it was a good purchase for us. I consider it one of my main appliances. I use it even more than my Kitchen Aid mixer! By the way, Vitamix does not know I exist. I just really love my blender:-)
I hope you’ll love this protein shake as much as I do! Just like my favorite yogurt bowl, it is one of the things I eat almost every day. In fact, I’m off to make one right now!
- ¾ cup ice cubes
- ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
- ½ banana
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 2 teaspoons almond butter
- Place all ingredients in a blender.
- Blend until smooth.
- Enjoy!

I SO Love my Vitamix too. It’s been neglected lately, and this might just be the thing to bring it back to life. Looks great! Thanks for sharing on Try A Bite Tuesday! Hope to see you back again next week!
