My post on the 21-Day Fix has been one of my most popular posts. Why is the 21-Day Fix is so popular right now? Well, it works! But it isn't just that. The reason the 21-Day Fix is so popular is because it isn't a fad diet. It's popular right now, sure. Though there isn't really anything new here. It is just plain old healthy eating. So why use the 21-Day Fix? Because it kicks you in the pants and reminds you that you weren't really eating as healthy as you thought you were! {Oops} I'm telling you, I really can't say enough good things about it. Why am I really here though? I thought it ... continue reading...

2015-2016 5th Grade Homeschool Curriculum Picks

2015 homeschool picks 5th grade

I can hardly believe that I have a 5th grader! It seems like such a short time ago that we eagerly began kindergarten! She is growing into a confident and independent young lady and I am looking forward to her 5th grade year. We will continue to use some of the same curricula as last year, while adding in some new and exciting finds! Language Arts My girl continues to blossom in this area. I distinctly remember being so worried that she would never be an avid reader. All through her second grade year I was wracking my brain on how I could help her become a more fluent reader. Then, the ... continue reading...

The Healthy Family Meal Plan {week 11}

the healthy family meal plan_

Hello! It's that time again. Time to spend a few minutes figuring out the meal plan! I'll be honest. July is so busy that I just feel like winging it. However, I know that would come back to bite me. In the long run, having a meal plan saves time, money, and stress! So, here we are:-) Breakfast Chocolate Peanut Butter Breakfast Shake. Can I feed my kids chocolate for breakfast? It says it's a breakfast shake, so I guess so! We'll use almond butter in lieu of peanut butter. So my kids can continue to breathe and all.   Can I just take a moment to tell you that my children ... continue reading...

2015-2016 3rd Grade Homeschool Curriculum

3rd grade homeschool picks 2

My 3rd grader. He can be stubborn, and super sweet. He would much rather be outside playing than "doing school". He is also smart-as-a-whip when he puts his mind to it. For him, I look for curriculum that will challenge him, but I also keep brevity in mind:-) Language CLE Language Arts 3 - simple and concise, but thorough. I want a "get it done" program that is still rigorous. This fits the bill. We use it in entirety except the spelling portion. For spelling, I was so torn between All About Spelling and Apples & Pears. We are going to try Apples & Pears first. I use it with my older ... continue reading...

2015-2016 1st Grade Homeschool Curriculum Picks

1st grade homeschool picks 2

I can't believe my middle baby boy is a first-grader! I am pumped to be his mama and teacher and can't wait to get going on his studies. My little guy (can I still call him that?) is so enthusiastic about school. Which, of course, makes learning even more fun. I won't keep you in suspense. Here are our 1st grade plans: Reading All About Reading - Level One. We started this at the beginning of the summer and I am so happy with it. I have dabbled in several programs over the last few years of teaching my children to read. All About Reading is easily my favorite. My 6-year-old LOVES it too, ... continue reading...
