Winter is the perfect season for comfort foods. Are you a comfort food fan? I sure am. Unfortunately, many comfort food are not exactly healthy. Mac n’ cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy….fried chicken anyone? Maybe I should have been born in the south:-)

Well, I am here to help. This Maple Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal is comfort food that you can feel good about! Isn’t that great news? From the hearty steel-cut oats, to the subtle sweetness of the apples to the earthy spiciness of the cinnamon. This breakfast will make you want to savor every last bite. And you will even stay full until lunch time!

You know, lately I’ve been thinking of trying to cut back on grains. But honestly, I think oats would be one of the hardest things for me to give up. I am a big oatmeal fan, and this particular recipe is so good you’ll feel like you are eating dessert!

Maple Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

This has been my go-to breakfast lately. Add a splash of cream and a drizzle of maple syrup and you will think you won the breakfast lottery.

This heartily delicious breakfast will keep you going all morning.
Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • 1½ cups water
  • ½ cups steel-cut oats
  • 1 medium apple, peeled and chopped
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Bring water to boil in medium saucepan.
  2. Stir in remaining ingredients and reduce heat to medium low.
  3. Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Drizzle with maple syrup and milk or cream.
  5. Enjoy!

This sweet and deliciously filling oatmeal will keep you going all morning. One of my favorite breakfasts!!!

    This was super yummy. I love how it was sweetened with maple syrup and it didn’t even need additional sweetner. My boyfriend had two bowls.
